Thorge Lindner

Hi, I'm Thorge, a German ex-founder, community builder and product engineer, looking to join a team in San Francisco that works toward human flourishing and civilizational progress.

The three missions that excite me the most right now: thoughtfully accelerating scientific research with AIThe world gets so much better with new materials, new cancer drugs, cheaper energy and hardware designed in days instead of months.AI removes a lot of the bottlenecks in that work, so let's go.Most interested in scientific foundation models, vertically integrated labs, physics and engineering AI, and data generation for science.I'd love to join a team that builds thoughtfully in this area., making the transition to powerful AI go wellWhile my p(doom) for total civilizational destruction isn't very high, it's still an extremely important field that needs much more money, media coverage and brainpower devoted to it.Risks I take very seriously: biosecurity, cybersecurity, oppressive totalitarian regimes, and losing oversight of autonomous agents.I'd love to make myself useful here., and scaling inner workI believe true abundance comes from both: material abundance on the outside, and inner abundance, healing and maybe even enlightenment.Ten years of meditation, around 60 inner work events hosted, big fan of Art of Accomplishment and the jhanas. The world is getting crazier while mental health gets worse. We need to fix this.I treat my work as a spiritual practice: every bottleneck and friction is a chance to grow and to be of service.. Open to being inspired by other missions too.

Work I'm proud of:

On the founding team at Equivariant Systems, led a team of three building Fermi, an agent that automates engineering simulations for hardware teams
  • Fermi, 2025 to 2026, SPC funded. It automates FEA/CFD simulation and is in use with early design partners in the US and Europe.
  • Worked on the agent harness, integrating mesher and solver, engineering workflows, a 3D CAD viewer and the chat experience.
  • Next to product, I led outbound GTM for the European market.
  • Came in with little knowledge of physics and engineering simulations and learned it all on the fly.
Co-founded a 12-bedroom group house in Berlin
  • Aurea Berlin, since 2022, is a Schelling point for high-agency Europeans, part of The Residency, a global network of builder houses with a 4% acceptance rate.
  • Two flats, a coworking space, hundreds of events, more than 100 residents over four years. Cash-flow positive since the first year, no grants.
  • Companies started by residents include Prime Intellect ($150m raised) and Capable ($50m raised).
  • Alumni work at companies such as Google DeepMind and Liquid AI, and at RAND Europe.
  • The other three founders have already moved to the US. I'm next. A Berlin team runs the house and I remain its steward.
Founded a lucid dreaming company that raised €300k in 2.5 weeks
  • World Within, 2020 to 2022, founded while I was still a student.
  • Half my time coding, the other half on fundraising, operations, user research and analytics.
  • Raised €300k from German angels in 2.5 weeks.
  • Never reached scale, returned the leftover money. The app is still online at worldwithin.app.
Took the first LLM-powered textbook reader to market
Started the startup accelerator at my university
  • CODE University in Berlin is Germany's most active startup university: one in ten students goes on to found a company.
  • I helped establish its entrepreneurship program from 2019 to 2021, while studying software engineering and product there.
  • Three accelerator batches over the summers (1, 2), dozens of events, roughly €3m in government grants. That was about half of the university's funding at the time.
Shipped AI products for clients in the US and Europe
  • Freelance since 2022: internal tools, automations and full apps, from zero to launch, for clients in the US and Europe.

My zone of genius is spending a bunch of time locked in, hacking on the product, and then going out and talking to customers, partners and the wider ecosystem. I'm equally strong in roles that are all the second half: community, partnerships, ecosystem building.

In San Francisco until November 6, interviewing and connecting with people. Most of my O1 case is already built. Relocation to SF planned for Q1 2027.

Write me if this resonates. Warm intros welcome.
